I’ve become sceptical of the unwritten rule that
just because a boy and girl appear in the same feature, a romance must
ensue. Rather, I want to portray a slightly different relationship, one
where the two mutually inspire each other to live - if I’m able to, then
perhaps I’ll be closer to portraying a true expression of love.

“I think hatred is wasted energy, and it’s all non-productive…I know we’re only human, we do go in for these…negative emotions, but when all these are removed and you can look forward and the road is clear ahead, and now you’re going to create something — I think that’s as happy as I’ll ever want to be.” - Alfred Hitchcock

Kubrick on the best preparation for being a film director Seeing movies. One of the things that gave me the most confidence in trying to make a film was seeing all the lousy films that I saw. Because I sat there and thought, Well, I don’t know a goddamn thing about movies, but I know I can make a film better than that. —Stanley Kubrick, The Artist Speaks for Himself cinephiliabeyond :
